This award is for current PhD students (full-time), post-doctoral fellows, and Early Career Researchers who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
As the primary IMPaCT fellowship deliverable is to develop a new trial protocol, the clinical trial question you submit must be in the idea/protocol development phase. The intervention can be any type (drug, behavioural, vaccine, device) and can include any trial phase including early phase and pragmatic trials. Adaptive and innovative approaches are encouraged!
IMPaCT defines a clinical trial as follows: A clinical trial is a research study involving human participants that evaluates the safety and/or effects of one or more interventions on health outcomes. IMPaCT training awards should only be to enable an individual to participate in IMPaCT. The funds can be used to financially support their salary, buy out their clinical time, or support other personnel to offset the time you would normally spend on research activities. This is important in order to protect time for participation in IMPaCT, which is an intensive one-year commitment.
