Dr. Offringa is a practicing neonatologist and clinical epidemiologist. His research interests in neonatology are in neonatal hypoglycaemia and hyperbilirubinaemia, lung protective ventilation and prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. His current research focusses on rare genetic and metabolic diseases and youth depressive disorders. In 2015 he founded Toronto Outcomes Research in Child Health (TORCH), an initiative to develop and measure "core outcome sets" in randomized controlled trials and cohort studies.
