Dr. Mohamed Eltorki is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist and a clinician scientist at Alberta Children's Hospital who is passionate about treating acute pain in children. Originally from Egypt, he completed his medical degree at the University of Alexandria before pursuing pediatric residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and subspecialty training at Alberta Children's Hospital. His academic path led him to McMaster University, where he earned his graduate degree at the prestigious department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact, while contributing as an attending and clinical researcher at McMaster Children's Hospital in Hamilton.
His research program has focused on acute gastrointestinal illnesses such as appendicitis, gastroenteritis, and constipation. He currently holds a CIHR-project grant for a multi-centre non-inferiority trial comparing ketorolac to morphine for pain relieve in children with suspected appendicitis. He is looking to expand into other conditions with the goal to provide best effective analgesia, opioid sparring protocols and minimizing drug adverse events. He is passionate about the design and conduct of randomized controlled trials with specific expertise in pilot and feasibility trials. He is currently He looks forward to expanding his expertise in the design of efficient adaptive trials and Bayesian analysis. Outside of medicine, he is an avid cyclist and a lover of the outdoors.
