Dr. Robert Schroth is Professor in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. He is also a research scientist at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. Dr. Schroth is a dental clinician-scientist, practicing out of two inner city community-based dental clinics in Winnipeg (Mount Carmel Clinic and Access Downtown). He is recognized as a leading national and international expert on the subject of early childhood caries (ECC), he has published extensively on the subject. There are four sub-themes to his research program: 1) the relationship between early childhood oral health, vitamin D, nutrition, and well-being; 2) the epidemiology of ECC, including the oral microbiome; 3) promotion of early childhood oral health, prevention and management of ECC, and the evaluation of early childhood oral health promotion programs; and 4) access to care and health services research looking at rates of pediatric dental surgery to treat ECC.
